News
from the INB of the Southern Baptist Convention
Macau, China
Deaf people in China are turning to Christ as they
“hear” about Him through sign language.
Praise God for those who are
committed to reaching the lost among this group.
There are an estimated 22
million hearing-impaired people in China,
including 6 million who are
“culturally deaf” in that they communicate
primarily through signing.
Only a handful of those 6 million know the Savior.
Pray that their numbers
will increase greatly as Christian workers focus on reaching them for
Christ.
May
14, 2008 Summary
Cracks
in the Zipingpu dam, most likely caused by the May 12 earthquake in
Sichuan
province, pose a threat to
an area still reeling from the destruction caused by the
earthquake. Another concern is the dam’s power station,
which may be off line for
months, if not longer, further reducing the electrical supply in a province already
suffering
shortages because of low water levels in area rivers and rising industrial demand.
We
do not know how many Deaf perished in this earthquake but we know that one city in the disaster zone had a Deaf school.

CITY OF PP,
CHINA.
There is a school for the
blind and deaf children of
the City of PP. The school has asked that a Christian come and train
their teachers in new teaching methods for blind and deaf children.
Please pray that a person can be found to fill this need. Pray that
Bibles can be found and local-language Braille Bibles can be found for
people to read and accept the Word of God.
