My Story
Will you please share this story with other deaf people. By the way, your baby is so cute!

My Childhood

My name is Marguerite Zorn. I want to share with the people what a difficult time I had as a little girl. I was born deaf. At the age of two, when my parents discovered that I was deaf, an audiologist advised them to send me off immediately to an oral school where I could learn to speak and lip read. If they waited until I was five or six years old, it would be too late for me to learn well. So my parents brought me to Ft. Lauderdale Oral School. When we arrived at the school, we spent some time visiting and observing the school. When it was time for my parents to leave, I was standing next to my housemother outside, just a few steps from the dorm. I saw them walking to their car from my dorm. They did not even turn around and look back to see how I was handling my new situation! I was screeching and sobbing at the top of my lungs!. I was on the ground, kicking my legs so hard. My housemother had a very difficult time holding on to me. This continued for a very long time. My mother later told me that she cried all the way home to Fitzgerald, Georgia. My daddy told me that he,too, cried when he got into the car. I know that they were just as miserable as I was! I did not think I could survive the agony I was experiencing! It was devastating! I was thrilled EVERY time I was able to visit home for the holidays. I came home every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter as well as during the summer. EVERY time when I went back to school, I held tightly to my favorite doll and cried for hours until my eyes were too sore and tried to cry anymore. I still have that doll; my mother kept it for me.

I stayed at the Fort Lauderdale Oral School until I was ten years old. Finally, I came home permanently when I was in 7th grade. Can you imagine leaving your child, so very young, in a situation like this? It would be difficult childhood, or teen years, that does not mean that the Lord loves you less.

Remember that Jesus Christ had a difficult time in his life, too. Imagine what Jesus Christ experienced just before He died! He suffered thirty lashes on His back. Think how you would have survived and responded to such a beating! The reason He allowed the Romans to torture HIM was for you and me. He suffered and died on a cross for us, to forgive our sins. I hope no one is bitter and angry and blames Jesus because of a difficult childhood. Everyone goes through difficult times in many different situations. I do not want anyone to continue going through rebellion against Jesus Christ. You are NOT the only person to go through a difficult time. Keep that in mind! The Bible says that "This is how God showed His Love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 9-10) "If you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) While Jesus was on the cross, He said "It is finished," bowed down his head, and gave up His spirit. (John 19:30) This means that our sins and guilt were paid off! What was paid? The price of redemption! What was accomplished? The work the Father had given the Son to do. "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) God sacrificed His Son for you because He loves you. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) So after three days, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and He is Alive and here right now, wanting to come into your life! If you want to receive Jesus Christ into your heart, all you have to is say this prayer from your heart.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins. I repent of it and I turn to You by faith right now. I thank you for dying on the cross for me and paying the price for all of my sins. I ask You to come into my life right now and be my Savior, my Lord, and my Friend. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Help me to be Your disciple from this moment forward. Thank-You, Lord, in Jesus' name I pray. AMEN!
